The project proposal meeting for the NSSF (National Social Science Fund) Chinese Academic Translation Project “A Study of Ecological Environment during the Qin and Han Dynasties”, approved for our faculty member He Hua in August 2024, was held on September 13, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in Room 716 of the West Campus Building, Chang'an Campus, Northwest University. Attendees included our dean, Professor Cao Ruonan, review experts and project team members. First, the host He Hua introduced the three experts invited, team members and project details. Subsequently, the host presented a report on the work plan, which included translation and review in the first phase and promotion in the second phase. Following that, the three experts—Professor Lü Minhong, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Shaanxi Normal University; Professor Lü Yahu from the School of History and Culture at Shaanxi Normal University; and Andrew Smith, a foreign teacher from the School of Foreign Languages at Northwest University—discussed translation, review and workflow with team members. They provided guidance on several key points, including methods for condensing the original text, skills for terminology research, the establishment of a terminology database, and considerations regarding the psychology of English readers. In the end, team members asked experts some specific questions regarding text translation and attentively listened to their insights.
