On the afternoon of August 28, 2024, our school held a special meeting on the development of the Japanese Language Department. This meeting was chaired by Dean Cao Ruonan, with all Japanese department faculty in attendance. The main agenda was to discuss the challenges facing the Japanese language students and measures to address problems.
During the meeting, Dean Cao highlighted that recent advancements in artificial intelligence have presented both opportunities and new challenges for foreign language disciplines. Dean Cao emphasized that research work by Japanese department faculty is crucial for overcoming these challenges and enhancing the discipline’s competitiveness. By promoting high-quality research projects and international academic collaboration, faculty can improve their research capabilities and attract more students to learn the Japanese language.
Dean Cao proposed the “Foreign Language +” advantage that our students had embraced, with plans to gradually implement a “Japanese + Economics” interdisciplinary training model, so as to increase students’ employability and adaptability. By combining Japanese with economic knowledge, it would provide more diverse learning paths and career opportunities for students to meet changing market demands.
In conclusion, Dean Cao called on all faculty members to actively engage in research work to enhance the overall level of the Japanese Language discipline, collectively face challenges, and contribute to the future development of the school and our students.
